Palma Kids en Paterna

Three longitudinal porticos. On them, it’s supported a system of prefabricated secondary beams. As if it was a childlike construction of wooden blocks, the structure rises in a subtle way, allowing the armed concrete to coexist with the warmth of the wood indoors.

The cover, becomes the protagonist plane, taking advantage of the unevenness of the plot, to locate the main program under it, allowing to isolate children from an unattractive environment. The courtyards, skylights and exterior views allow children to enter a controlled and protected world. The structure, as rational explanation that serves as support for architecture, is shown here, almost as a didactic experience for the children.

The difficulty of prefabricating secondary beams, which in two large light spans had to respond with continuity, became the structural challenge to be solved.
