In a large trapezoidal plot, the program is organized in two of its edges. On the one hand, the volume of classrooms and offices, and opposite, the set of sports buildings, leaving the central space released to incorporate the larger sports tracks.
The classrooms volume is solved by reticular slab and reinforced concrete supports in a strict modulation of 3.65m, which, on the upper floor, to incorporate the teaching classrooms, increases to 7.30m. The roof deck, in a structural gesture, as well as an architectural one, flies, generating a natural protection against the sun and forming a curb that gives character to the building. The cantilever, of more than 5m is solved by steel beams perched on the reticular slab, leaving behind the front of the body flown to hide from the view, trying to go unnoticed.
The gym is constructed by means of reinforced concrete walls that support the metal trusses of the roof deck. The deck in front of the “frontón”, “galotxeta” and “trinquet” is suspended from a large lattice beam located on the lightened concrete slab. To resolve the lateral buckling of the upper free cord, it’s used the natural balance between flexural signs around the central support, and also the reinforcement by a UPN profile welded on the upper cord.
