The game of two transverse volumes, with roofs on a slope, covers the living spaces, delimited by vertical planes of brick or glass. The concrete slabs, solve the cantilevered corner of the entrance, a programmatic starting requirement. The roofs, also of solid slab, cover great distances to avoid the presence of unnecessary supports, being sometimes their materiality uncoated, for the spatial and architectural quality that it adds, especially, to the space of double height in the living room.
It is precisely in the living room area where the folding of the roof slab is used to create a rigid cantilever beam, which allows the lightweight slab of the library to be picked up, enjoying the best views both inside and outside the room. It thus becomes a privileged balcony, which seems to float, because it hides its support, hanging from the deck by a simple sheet of solid steel. While the general structure is of reinforced concrete, this deck is a mixed concrete and steel slab on beams and steel joists.
Underneath the two aerial floor plans, a quality basement, tied to an English patio, offers an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy the entrance of light and the space projected through the staircase.
