Sedka Staircase en Petrer
Pablo Muñoz Payá Arquitectos
2018 - 2019
The monumental staircase is the true protagonist of the new building, with which Sedka inaugurates the largest bridal sector commercial space in Spain. The helical staircase is inserted into the large central void of almost 8 meters in diameter and connects the three floors of the project, undoubtedly being one of the great singularities of the project.
This staircase is constructed with a reinforced concrete structure with variable thickness. Thus, at the points of connection with the "existing" metal structure, the staircase increases in thickness to anchor itself and withstand the forces, while in the cantilevered area, a constant depth can be maintained. At all times, the visible depth of the staircase remains continuous, and at the connections, it is executed with variable depth, so that, despite its dimensions, it appears to float in space.
