A humble and ceramic dwelling, conceived from the design phase to make the most of the material, as everything originates from a ceramic piece measuring 240x115x90mm. The result is a rectangular prismatic volume, resolved with a material that is exposed both indoors and outdoors, as well as in the spatial transitions.
The challenge of the structure of this house is to resolve it with the utmost economy and construction simplicity since it will be visible in the exterior walls. Therefore, the starting point of the project is to avoid the appearance of intermediate supports, which is achieved by assembling the brick rows. In this way, lintels are able to span the interior spaces.
The structure shapes the architecture, and the architecture shapes the structure. Eight identical interior rooms are created, marked by orthogonal diaphragms that, bare and stripped, appear to float, forming the roof.
In the words of the architect, 'it is a dwelling that champions craftsmanship, something that always refers to a manual exercise, unquestionably analog, where technique is emphasized over technology, and the idea of a craft is reclaimed.'
