The shadow beneath the Plane en Puzol

The project starts from a corner plot with some slope. It takes advantage of it by raising the ground floor level to create a horizontal topographical platform. To achieve this, a perimeter embankment is created from which one can enjoy the magnificent views.

This platform is covered by a lightweight plane that appears to levitate. It is achieved through a solid concrete slab supported by very slender, solid metal supports integrated into the architectural layout. Furthermore, this roof slab tapers in thickness around its perimeter to the ridge. This thinning is realized through a metal structure consisting of cantilevered profiles and sheets, up to 7 meters in length.

This maximizes the interior-exterior relationship, offering great flexibility to the spatial possibilities of the house.

Taking advantage of the generated slope, part of the program is introduced in the semi-basement floor, connected to the upper floor through a double-height courtyard.

Another structural challenge of the project, in addition to the upper roof, is the green roof covering part of the semi-basement floor. A garden basin of up to 40 cm in thickness is designed on a composite sheet flooring supported by a grid of metal profiles covering a clear-span area of 10.50x7.30 meters located between two courtyards.
